Honeywell’s Fire Alarm Communicator Hailed as Top 2008 Innovation

Honeywell’s IPDACT-2UD fire alarm communications device, which transmits fire alarm system information to central monitoring stations using a standard Internet Protocol (IP) line, has been named one of 2008’s “Top 30 Technology Innovations” by Security Sales & Integration (SSI) magazine. It is the first communicator of its kind to feature uploading and downloading capabilities.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief gave the IPDACT-2UD communications device this honor in recognition of “the profitability and efficiency it represents.”

With the device, offered by Honeywell’s Fire-Lite Alarms, users can easily download alarm panel data and upload information from any computer through any internet or intranet connection. The system is faster and more reliable, and helps building owners avoid the costs associated with phone lines traditionally used for fire alarm communications.
