Honeywell Electronic Materials’ (HEM) Spokane, Washington, plant was recently honored with three awards during the Spokane county “Way to Go” banquet. The awards ceremony, hosted by the county’s Trip Reduction Office, recognizes groups whose leadership and efforts help reduce vehicle emissions by finding alternatives to solo commute trips to and from work.
“We are proud that our employees are committed to improving the environment,” said David Price, plant manager. “These recognitions show how committed Specialty Materials is to reducing the carbon footprint of our businesses.”
During the ceremony, the entire HEM site was honored for sponsoring the Bus Pass Program, which encourages employees to use public methods of transportation. The Spokane plant increased employee participation in the program by 300 percent in 2007. In addition, the site’s Honeywell Employee Trip Reduction Team was honored as the 2008 All-Star Team for Spokane County, and Tim Gossler, the plant’s environmental technician, was recognized as the All-Star Coach for September 2008.
