The Congressional Fire Services Caucus (CFSC) presented U.S. Vice President Joe Biden with his own Honeywell-made firefighting helmet and coat during the National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner fundraising event in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 2009.

Biden, a longtime fire service advocate, addressed thousands of firefighters, rescue and EMS personnel as the event’s keynote speaker. Before becoming vice president, Biden was co-chairman of the CFSC as a U.S. senator.

The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) hosted the dinner, which pays tribute to U.S. firefighters and emergency services personnel. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute, CFSI educates members of Congress about the needs and challenges of the nation’s fire and emergency services so that the federal government provides the types of training and funding needed by first responders.

Honeywell First Responder Products, a part of Honeywell Life Safety, manufactures head-to-toe protective gear for first responders and has a long history working with Biden, CFSI and CFSC.
