Boeing has selected Honeywell Sensing and Control to provide sensors for its flap skew detection system, which determines if the flaps on aircraft wings are mis-aligned. Each airplane will use eight Honeywell sensors as part of the system. This long-term Boeing project is estimated to last more than 10 years.
The win comes after a system change by Boeing designed to reduce airplane weight. As part of that change, Boeing selected Honeywell for critical sensing requirements. Honeywell’s long and successful track record with Boeing, accompanied by a deep understanding of their main needs and objectives, led Boeing to award the business to Honeywell.
