The Honeywell development team responsible for the T-Hawk Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) system, a 17-pound, remote-controlled aircraft, has been nominated by Aviation Week for the magazine’s 2010 Laureate Award in the Aeronautics/Propulsion category. The Laureate Award recognizes individuals and nominated teams for lasting contributions and extraordinary achievements in civil, military and commercial aviation and aerospace.
The nomination recognizes that Honeywell brought its expertise in avionics, engines, nacelles and systems together to develop the RQ-16 T-Hawk, a key asset in the battle to defeat improvised explosive devices. Honeywell delivered the first production T-Hawks to the U.S. Navy in August 2009.
Aviation Week will honor the nominees at a ceremony March 17 in Washington, DC. For more information, read the article.
