Honeywell attended the Heli-Expo®, the largest trade show dedicated to the international helicopter community. The show took place Feb. 20-23 in Houston, Texas, and was attended by more than 16,000 industry professionals from around the world.
Honeywell announced milestones and upgrades at the show. Press announcements from the show include:
- Honeywell has teamed with Eagle Copters of Calgary, Alberta, to offer an HTS900 engine upgrade for the Bell 407 helicopter, called the Eagle 407 HP. The Honeywell HTS900 engine is a new type of engine design that provides superior performance in high, hot conditions, fuel efficiency and operating costs.
- M International has joined Honeywell’s worldwide network of authorized distributors for the T53 engine. Honeywell’s T53 engines have accumulated more than 50 million hours of service since its introduction as the powerplant for the Bell Helicopter UH-1 “Huey” helicopter.
- Honeywell’s popular Bendix/King by Honeywell AV8OR handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) is now available for helicopter operators. The AV8OR is a portable touch-screen GPS for use in the car or in the air, with real-time weather capability, moving-map navigation and video-in capability.
- The CTS800 engine, produced by Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company, a 50:50 joint venture between Honeywell and Rolls-Royce, has surpassed 50,000 in-service flight hours primarily powering the AgustaWestland Super Lynx 300 and ShinMaywa US-2 aircraft.
- Honeywell announced that flight testing of the LTS101 engine upgrade from Airworks New Zealand for the Eurocopter BK117 has been completed. The LTS101 upgrade, which updates the engines to the LTS101-850B-2, delivers 15 percent more take off power and 18 percent more power for hot day operations.
