Honeywell Transportation Systems received the 2011 Automotive News PACE™ (Premier Automotive Suppliers Contributions to Excellence) Award for its VNT DualBoost Turbo. This turbocharger brought to market five distinct innovations to provide Ford Motor Company’s Power Stroke engine with improved engine performance, fuel economy, and responsiveness – all while cutting emissions.
Honeywell is the leading automotive turbocharger developer in the world, supplying technology solutions to nearly every major automaker in the world. At the heart of Honeywell’s DualBoost turbocharger is a dual-sided compressor wheel that provides the performance approaching that of a two stage turbo system in a single turbo package. The reduced packaging requirements allowed Honeywell to position the turbo between the banks of the V engine for optimal performance. Turbocharger technology allows carmakers to provide 20 to 40 percent more fuel economy, improved emissions to meet more stringent regulatory requirements and all without compromising performance.
