Honeywell announced that Shane Tedjarati was named to the broader role of President, High Growth Regions, and Stephen Shang will take over as President, Honeywell China, effective immediately. Tedjarati will continue to report directly to Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote. Shang will report to Tedjarati.

“Globalization has been a key pillar of our Growth Initiative for the past decade,” said Dave Cote, Honeywell Chairman and CEO.  “Ten years ago, less than 40% of our sales were generated outside the U.S.  Today, our company is twice the size, and approximately 55% of our revenues are generated outside the U.S.  We began executing this strategy by focusing on the two most important emerging markets – China and India.  That strategy has proven to be a good one.  We have grown nearly ten-fold in revenues and now have nearly 25,000 employees in China and India, representing a significant share of our global growth story.”

Honeywell has been listed as a 2011 North American Top Company for Leaders, based on a study conducted by Aon Hewitt, The RBL Group, and FORTUNE magazine.

Honeywell announced its support of President Obama’s initiative to encourage private companies to hire and train more military veterans.  

As part of its ongoing efforts, Honeywell recently expanded its recruitment efforts to include a target job placement goal of at least 500 U.S. veterans in 2011 across the company’s four businesses: Aerospace, Automation & Control Solutions, Specialty Materials, and Transportation Systems.  Currently, Honeywell employs veterans globally in a wide variety of roles including engineers, production operation supervisors, technicians, and sourcing/logistics professionals.

Honeywell has been recognized with an “Above and Beyond” award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an organization within the U.S. Department of Defense, in recognition of the company’s “outstanding service and continuing support” of U.S. defense efforts.

Honeywell announced that Mike Lang has been named the company’s Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO).  Lang will be responsible for deploying new technology and the core tools necessary to drive Honeywell’s businesses and strengthen IT’s role as a critical business partner throughout the company.  His role includes increasing productivity and improving the effectiveness of Honeywell’s IT, while safeguarding the company’s critical information, intellectual property, and physical resources. He will also lead the Honeywell IT Council, which sets the direction and focus for the function.  He will report to Honeywell’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dave Cote and will be based in Morris Township, N.J. 

“Mike’s 20 years of experience in IT leadership and extensive knowledge of systems integration following 20 acquisitions over the past four years in our ACS business gives him a unique perspective for this role,” said Cote.  “He is an exceptional leader who has driven progressive IT change initiatives that have helped to drive more efficient, productive, and profitable operations within the business.  His customer-service orientation, self-awareness, and strong business acumen make him a good fit for our executive team.  I am confident that Mike will continue to accelerate our functional transformation program and productivity improvements, while simultaneously improving the services and capabilities of our IT function.”

Lang was most recently Vice President and CIO of Honeywell’s $15 billion Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) business.

Alex Ismail, President and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems, appeared on CNNMoney to discuss the evolution and benefits of turbocharging, and the expected increase in the production of turbocharged cars for the United States.

“The turbo revolution is on the way in the United States, where we are going to see turbo penetration growing in light vehicles from nine percent in 2011 to more than 20 percent by 2015,” said Ismail. “And it’s going to be on all vehicles.”

Honeywell turbochargers enable a small engine to perform like a large one, while using up to 40% less fuel and generating up to 30% less CO₂ emissions, compared with non-turbocharged gasoline engines with the same power output. Turbochargers are available today on gasoline, diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG), and hybrid cars.

Ismail noted that Honeywell turbochargers are a solution for car companies meeting strict emissions requirements and enable downsizing without decreasing engine power.

“Think about the turbocharger being a small jet engine under the hood of your car,” said Ismail. “The turbocharger industry has evolved a lot over the last 10 years.  It’s a pretty efficient technology that delivers performance across the board as well as fuel-efficiency.”

Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote, company CFO David Anderson and Vice President of Investor Relations Elena Doom are ranked among America’s most successful in Institutional Investor magazine’s annual ranking of the nation’s best CEOs, CFOs, investor relations professionals and investor relations companies.

Institutional Investor magazine asked buy- and sell-side analysts to identify the best executives among the U.S. companies they follow and to rate those companies on a range of qualities, including access to senior management and corporate social responsibility.  Survey results reflect the opinions of nearly 1,300 analysts and investment professionals at more than 550 firms.

According to the article, “There has been no shortage of challenges facing corporate leaders over the past couple of years, but the members of the 2011 All-America Executive Team have demonstrated their talent for triumphing in the face of adversity — which is why analysts on both the buy and sell sides have deemed them the best of corporate America.”

Kate Adams, Honeywell’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, was recently named a “Woman Worth Watching” by Profiles in Diversity Journal magazine, a bi-monthly magazine focusing on diversity/inclusion in business, government, non-profit, higher education and military settings.

Adams is responsible for managing all of Honeywell’s legal affairs including Securities and Exchange Commission filings and disclosure, corporate governance, human resources and benefits, intellectual property rights, litigation, environmental compliance, and acquisitions and divestitures. 

Throughout her tenure at Honeywell, Kate has resolved numerous complex litigation matters, brought rigor and focus to legal processes, created frameworks for ensuring integrity and compliance of legal systems, and led a team that developed the company’s sustainability goals for energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction, hazardous waste reduction and workplace injuries.

Alex Ismail, President and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems, has been named the Automotive News Europe 2010 “Supplier Division CEO Eurostar.” The Eurostars awards are determined independently by the editors of Automotive News Europe and this year acknowledge the achievements of ten leading industry executives during what was the worst recession in decades.

Automotive News Europe recognized Ismail for “not panicking when the global economic crisis started to hit his division’s top product – turbochargers,” noting that he remained confident in “the technology it was developing, the improvements it had made to its production processes, and its global reach.”

Automotive News Europe will honor the 2010 Eurostars during a celebration dinner the day before the opening of the Paris Motor Show, and will feature the winners in a special show issue of Automotive News Europe.
