Honeywell Wins “Tekne Award” for Innovation from Minnesota High Tech Association

John Tyhacz, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell’s Environmental and Combustion Controls (ECC) business, along with Honeywell’s 2009 “Tekne Award.”

Honeywell won a 2009 “Tekne Award,” which recognizes Minnesota’s outstanding technology achievements and leaders, for the development of RedLINK™ Wireless Technology, the first wireless technology and suite of wireless products designed specifically for HVAC applications.

Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA), in partnership with LifeScience Alley and Enterprise Minnesota, the Tekne Awards honor companies and individuals who have shown superior technology innovation and leadership in Minnesota.

RedLINK was introduced in the fall of 2008, along with a complete lineup of wireless thermostats, temperature zoning systems and accessories designed to solve what used-to-be installation problems and meet homeowners comfort needs. RedLINK wireless technology products eliminate the need to run wires in many applications and enables homeowners to have advanced comfort control anywhere in the home.

Honeywell introduced the Wireless Outdoor Motion Detector. The newest member of Honeywell’s popular 5800 Series family of wireless devices, the 5800PIR-OD is an ideal solution for outdoor sensing applications in difficult to wire locations. It avoids the costs and time required for trenching and excavating, which is usually required for traditionally wired outdoor sensing technologies. The robust, easy-to-install, battery operated sensor delivers reliable outdoor performance and provides Honeywell dealers with an excellent way to increase recurring monthly revenue (RMR) when used with Honeywell’s Total Connect digital communications solutions.

The 5800PIR-OD provides valuable property protection in both residential and commercial settings, including driveways, pool areas, boats, trailers, sheds and more. In commercial settings, the 5800PIR-OD can guard against copper theft in utility and electrical substations. It can protect building exterior entrances, car lots, rooftops and more.
